Oncology
Cancer comprises more than 200 different conditions characterized by abnormal and/ or uncontrolled cell growth. It is the second-largest cause of death (after cardiac disease), and its global incidence is increasing. The mechanisms that control the cell division cycle and the role of cyclin-dependent kinases and cyclins in the development of cancer cells have become a major focus for new drug discovery.
PLSL has embarked upon a mission to discover potent CDK inhibitors. Our oncology program has successfully generated a series of novel CDK inhibitors and one such molecule (P276-00) is currently in Phase I/II clinical trials.

- P276-00 is the first clinical candidate from India to get US FDA approval for Phase I trials in the USA for multiple myeloma
- Research is on to find the potential combination of P276-00 with current chemotherapeutic drugs
- Preclinical studies are under way for a novel oral CDK inhibitor
Other programs in oncology include:
- Inhibitors of angiogenesis from natural and synthetic sources
- Natural product screening to identify a potential anticancer candidate
- Herbal candidate NPB001-05 is currently in Phase II clinical trials for leukemia
